Social Media & Communications Specialist

Job Purpose

We are seeking a motivated Social Media & Communications Specialist to support the Strategic Communications department with external and internal communications, social media, and media. The role requires ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment and effectively engage with internal and externa stakeholders. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, who will deliver on the operations of various social media and communication channels, operationalizing the strategy for consistent messaging and voice, and ensuring the efforts meet organization’s strategic objectives.

Job Responsibilities & Duties

Develop and implement social media strategies to enhance audience engagement, increase brand reach and following, and build a notable media presence.

    • Manage and curate content for various social media platforms, including Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube, ensuring content optimization for maximum engagement and reach.
    • Create compelling and informative posts, graphics, videos, and other multimedia content to convey the organization’s messages and initiatives effectively.
    • Monitor social media channels for relevant conversations, trends, and opportunities to engage with stakeholders and address inquiries or concerns promptly.
    • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to coordinate social media campaigns, events, and other communications initiatives.
    • Utilize analytics tools to track and analyze social media performance, generate reports, and make data-driven recommendations for optimization.
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with influencers and key stakeholders to amplify the organization’s messaging and enhance brand awareness.
    • Stay up to date with industry news, trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in social media, media, and communications.
    • Support the organization’s broader communications efforts, including media relations, content creation, and event management, as needed.
    • Act as a brand ambassador for the organization, representing its values and mission across digital platforms and interactions.

Qualifications

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, English Literature, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
    2. Proven experience in social media management, digital marketing, or communications roles, preferably in an international or intergovernmental organization.
    3. Comprehensive understanding of various social media platforms, including Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube, and proficiency in content optimization for engagement and reach.
    4. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling content tailored to different audiences and platforms.
    5. Experience with social media analytics tools and data-driven decision-making.
    6. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
    7. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders, both internally and externally.
    8. Strong interpersonal skills and influencer management capabilities to build relationships and partnerships effectively across media and social media ecosystem.
    9. Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
    10. Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
