May 2026
The Codes of Practice to Combat Online Misinformation provides a practical, results-driven framework to help governments, digital platforms, regulators, civil society, researchers, educational institutions, and businesses address the growing challenge of online misinformation. Developed as a foundational component of the DCO campaign “Stop Online Misinformation: CTRL + ALT + DEL”, the publication translates global best practices into actionable commitments, measurable indicators, and collaborative approaches that promote content integrity across the digital ecosystem.
Built around three core pillars Platform Accountability and Transparency, Public Digital Literacy, and Support for the Research Community the publication offers clear guidance for stakeholders to strengthen trust, enhance digital resilience, foster innovation, and improve the quality of online information. Through a structured pledge and performance framework, it empowers organizations to take measurable action, track progress, and contribute to building a more trustworthy, inclusive, and resilient digital future.
