The Digital Cooperation Organization Holds its Administrative Council Meeting Chaired by Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications 

The DCO confirmed holding its 3rd General Assembly in Manama & Kuwait’s Chairmanship in 2025   

December 13, 2023: The Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) held its virtual Administrative Council Meeting, chaired by H.E. Mohamed bin Thamir Al Kaabi, Chairperson of the Digital Cooperation Organization and Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The meeting was attended by ministers and representatives designated by the Ministries of Communications and Information Technology in the DCO Member States, and H.E. Deemah AlYahya. 

After welcoming the representatives of the DCO Member States by H.E. Mohamed bin Thamir Al Kaabi, Chairperson of the Digital Cooperation Organization and Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications of the Kingdom of Bahrain for the year 2023, the Council announced during the meeting that the third DCO General Assembly will be held in Manama, the capital of the Kingdom of Bahrain on January 31st, 2024. The decision to adopt the presidency of the State of Kuwait for the organization in the year 2025 was also approved, alongside discussing the administrative and financial reports related to the organization’s work during 2023, the governance of the organization, and the joint work plan for the coming year.  

The Administrative Meeting of the DCO Council was attended online by all 15 Member States of the Organization, represented either by their Ministers or Deputies. 

H.E. Deemah AlYahya, the DCO Secretary-General, presented a report on the developments and achievements made by the organization in 2023, as well as the proposed plan for the year 2024, which aims to translate the DCO 2030 Strategic Roadmap into actionable initiatives to achieve the organization’s targets for the coming years.  

On this occasion, H.E. Mohamed bin Thamir Al Kaabi, Chairperson of the Digital Cooperation Organization and Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications in the Kingdom of Bahrain, praised the effective role played by the organization in the initiatives and achievements through the presidency of the Kingdom of Bahrain for the year 2023, highlighting the diligent efforts of H.E. Deemah AlYahya, the Secretary-General of the organization.  

He also confirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s continuous efforts to advance the digital economy through its membership in the organization; by sharing experiences with other DCO Member States to implement best practices regarding policy and legislation, referring to the kingdom’s support for the efforts of all Member States and working cooperatively to provide opportunities for the sustainable and inclusive development of the digital economy in the region. 

The DCO Secretary-General, H.E. Deemah AlYahya, said: “The DCO had many achievements during 2023, which were translated into actionable initiatives that aim to collectively shape a sustainable and inclusive digital future that enables digital prosperity for all, under the presidency of H.E. Mr. Mohamed bin Thamir Al Kaabi, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications in the Kingdom of Bahrain, whose guidance had an impact in accomplishing the strategic goals of the DCO 2030 Strategic Roadmap.  

“This DCO Administrative Council Meeting stands as a testament to the dedication and expertise of our diverse membership. Together, we are crafting a legacy marked by cooperation and progress that transcends geographical boundaries and leaves an indelible mark on the world.  The DCO reiterates its commitment alongside its Member States to enhance the growth of a global, inclusive, prosperous, and sustainable digital economy,” she added. 

She continued, “We look forward to holding our upcoming DCO General Assembly next month in Manama, Bahrain in January 2024, where we will convene to celebrate our collective achievements and work together to shape a digital future that is not only more inclusive but also one that is prosperous and sustainable for all.” 

The Digital Cooperation Organization is a global multilateral organization established in November 2020, aimed at enabling digital prosperity for all by accelerating inclusive growth of the digital economy.
