Expert - Proofreader
Job Purpose
A Proofreader responsibility will be to technical review, edit, and correct written materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to established guidelines and standards. This role will play a crucial role in maintaining the quality and professionalism of various written documents, such as articles, reports, marketing materials, websites, and other publications.
Job Responsibilities & Duties
- Review written materials for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax errors.
- Ensure consistency in style, formatting, and language usage.
- Verify facts, dates, and statistics to ensure accuracy.
- Check for proper sentence structure, clarity, and coherence.
- Edit content to improve readability, flow, and overall quality.
- Collaborate with writers, editors, and other stakeholders to resolve grammar or content-related issues.
- Follow established style guides, brand guidelines, and publishing standards.
- Track changes and maintain accurate records of edits and revisions.
- Conduct final proofreading before publication to ensure error-free content.
- Provide feedback and suggestions to writers to enhance their writing skills.
- Training session shall be provided by the proofreader on proof reading to relevant teams.
- Stay updated on industry trends, language usage, and writing best practices.
- Experience with Business and Academic research.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, or a related field (preferred).
- Has 15 years of experience in the digital industry (preferred).
Experience & Skills
- Proven work experience as a Proofreader or similar role.
- Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to spot errors quickly.
- Proficiency in using proofreading tools, such as grammar and spell- check software.
- Knowledge of different writing formats, such as articles, blog posts, reports, and press releases.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Expertise in the digital economy content review.
- Knowledge of ethical standards (eg plagiarism) pertaining to research papers.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback.
- Substantial PowerPoint experience required.
- Highly proficient in communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly proficient in MS Word.
